Remarks by President Biden on Protecting American Consumers from Junk Fees

Microsoft isn’t happy with Sony and the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority. The UK regulator signaled an in-depth review of Microsoft’s $68.7 billion deal to acquire Activision Blizzard last month, and the CMA has now published its full 76-page report on its findings. The CMA says it has concerns that Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard deal could lessen competition in game consoles, subscriptions, and cloud gaming, but Microsoft thinks the regulator has simply been listening to Sony’s lawyers too much. However, the CMA has barely discussed the potential for Microsoft’s entrance into mobile gaming as part of its investigation and is instead largely focusing on console gaming, which Microsoft argues is an increasingly smaller part of the overall market. In a graph posted at Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard acquisition site, the company depicts the entire gaming market as worth $165 billion in 2020, with consoles making up $33 billion , PCs at $40 billion , and mobile gaming at $85 billion .

However, because nearly all movie "M16A2s" fire full automatic, it is not IMFDB policy to designate these rifles as "M16A3s" when identifying them in movies, since in nearly all cases they are intended to pass for M16A2s. The M16A1 is a modification of the XM16E1 to address problems found in the testing cycle of the XM16E1. Changes included a closed "birdcage" flash hider to replace the XM16E1's three-pronged flash hider, which caught on twigs and leaves, a full fence around the magazine release to prevent accidental ejection, and a chrome plated chamber - later fully lined bore - to reduce fouling. The bolt was also changed so the cam pin could not be inserted with the bolt installed backwards, which would cause failures to eject until corrected. The front pivot point is also strenghtened, giving the area in front of the magazine well a slightly different shape. Many examples in recent films are actually 'faux' XM16E1 rifles, usually built on an M16A1; the real XM16E1 has a partial magazine fence on its lower receiver, whereas the M16A1 has a full raised rib around the magazine release button.

The bulletin explains that indiscriminately charging these depositor fees, regardless of circumstances, likely violates the Consumer Financial Protection Act. And, by the way, I’m going to be working very hard to make sure that oil companies pass on the reduction in the price of a barrel of oil to the pump. But it’s — I just think that one of the things that I think frustrates the American people is they know the world is in a bit of disarray.

Colt Model 639 (commercial/export variant of the XM177E2) - 5.56x45mm. In the 70s the ATF classified the XM177E2 style 4.5" moderator as a suppressor, hence carbines manufactured after this point are fitted with a standard flash hider. Also note that some American movies feature M16A1 rifles fitted with M16A2-style handguards, such as Heat and Die Hard 2. When identifying M16 variants, please look at the receiver of the rifle in question, not just its handguards, to determine whether it is an A1 or an A2. The M16 is the first derivative of the ArmaLite AR-15 adopted by the United States military.

There was a time years ago where there were not that many enterprise CEOs who were well-versed in the cloud. Then you reached the stage where they knew they had to have a cloud strategy, and they were…asking their teams, their CIOs, “okay, do we have a cloud strategy? ” Now, it's actually something that they're, in many cases, steeped in and involved in, and driving personally.

The explosion of custom and unique looking AR-15 rifles in the 1980s and 1990s has led to a lot of confusion regarding what rifle is in what movie. Colt still insisted on using the SP1 style lower receiver so any rifle that looks like this but has the fencing around the magazine release button is not a Colt rifle. Variants of this rifle have both the round and tear drop forward assist buttons, however, most of the early years of production had the tear drop button, like this rifle in the photo. That being said, many customers are in a hybrid state, where they run IT in different environments. In some cases, that's by choice; in other cases, it's due to acquisitions, like buying companies and inherited technology. We understand and embrace the fact that it's a messy world in IT, and that many of our customers for years are going to have some of their resources on premises, some on AWS. We want to make that entire hybrid environment as easy and as powerful for customers as possible, so we've actually invested and continue to invest very heavily in these hybrid capabilities. We're an $82-billion-a-year company last quarter, growing 27% year over year, so we have, of course, every use case and customers in every situation that you could imagine. What we see a lot of is folks just being really focused on optimizing their resources, making sure that they're shutting down resources which they're not consuming.

The important thing for our customers is the value we provide them compared to what they're used to. And those benefits have been dramatic for years, as evidenced by the customers' adoption of AWS and the fact that we're still growing at the rate we are given the size business that we are. That kind of analysis would not be feasible, you wouldn't even be able to do that for most companies, on their own premises.

Republican Sen. Cynthia Lummis, meanwhile, said the CFPB "needs the same Congressional oversight as every other government agency." Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who oversaw the CFPB's creation, responded to the ruling on Twitter, writing that "extreme right-wing judges are throwing into question every rule the CFPB enforces to protect consumers and businesses alike." As set up under the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act, the CFPB is funded by the Federal Reserve rather than congressional appropriations.
